Hey, Daybreak Family!

This past Sunday we got to celebrate the results of our Wide Open Generosity Initiative. What an exciting day in the life of our church! If you missed it, watch the moment here. 

Remember, our primary goal through this season was 100% engagement. As you know, our new favorite phrase was “grapple with God.” This is what we are celebrating. Wide Open has been an incredibly fruitful discipleship initiative and we have seen people’s hearts changed by God. We have heard so many stories of generosity and surrender to God and we look forward to sharing many of those stories motivated by a profound love for God in the year ahead!

Our secondary goal through this season was to fully fund our ongoing MISSION and the new VISION initiatives that we believe God is calling us to invest in over the next 2 years. And, if you remember, the initial dream goal to do that was $6.25 million. But, as we shared right up front on Sunday, we didn’t quite get there. And at first, our team felt the initial feeling we all get when something comes up a little short of our expectations… we let out a bit of a sigh. BUT as we prayed and processed together, something wonderful happened in us. God gave us perspective — He reminded us of how much He IS providing, and the amazing stories of generosity and surrender in this season. And, when we looked back over our shoulder at where we’ve been in terms of yearly giving, and then looked again at the new number, it made us truly grateful to God and our hearts were moved towards worship!

So, let’s take you on that journey with us by sharing some of what God pointed out to us.  

If we look back at what was given in the PAST 2 ministry years, the total was $2,803,541—that’s about $1.4 million per year.

From Wide Open commitments and expected gifts over the NEXT 2 years, the new total is slated to be $4,800,206! 

• As of 12/5, 212 commitments were made representing 328 people being Wide Open to God through generosity.
• 54 new givers, including 18 individual students, made a big leap to give to the mission and vision of Daybreak for the first time.
• 31 givers who gave previously, committed to give over 4 times more than before.
• Our kids alone gave over $1,100 of their own money to Wide Open! 
• Wide Open 2-year commitments ranged from $2 to $250k, even one of which represents an act of surrender before God, a desire to be Wide Open to God.

What an amazing work God did in the hearts of his church family! He is SO GOOD and we are SO GRATEFUL! That is $2 million more given toward life change at Daybreak in the next 2 years, getting us 80% of the way to that big dream goal. And we want to keep depending on God to provide. This is not the end of our Wide Open journey, it’s just the beginning!  

In fact, we have so much to celebrate about the results of generosity just this week! Many 2-year commitments have already begun to be fulfilled, making this week’s offering over $100K! THANK YOU for helping us get this thing off to strong start!

We know some of you are still in the midst of processing and grappling, and because of that you haven’t yet participated in making a commitment. Keep grappling with how God is inviting you to respond! The door will always be open for you to jump in and engage in this commitment, either by filling out a card available at The Hub or by doing so online at CommitmentCard.db.church. That Commitment Card, when combined with the Commitment Cards of your spiritual family, simply informs Daybreak leadership of how God is moving in His people to resource where He’s leading so they can better discern how to proceed.

On Monday, our Governing Board will be coming together to spend the day praying, discerning, and making decisions about moving forward. Will you join us as we thank God for his provision and pray for our Board, that God will guide them as they prayerfully discern how to steward what HE has provided so that we can most effectively carry out HIS mission?
